Super Sunday

Sunday my church I grew up in had homecoming and we got to visit with my parents, Mama Connie, and Joel’s parents. The sermon by Mr. Bedsworth who was there twenty years ago was special. He spoke of unforgettable characters of the bible and related them to unforgettable characters of our church who showed the love of Christ. Several of them even I remember, like Miss Chattie, who played the piano for the children’s choir. And the food was amazing as always—no one can beat an good old-fashioned church homecoming. Both my parents had been to auctions the day before—Mom found some decorative stuff and a silver chest, and Dad got a swivel chair for a dollar and a 16mm film projector for eight dollars. He didn’t know what film was left on the reel, so I joked it was a homemade “adult” show. Turns out it’s an educational film on pregnancy and labor: the result of adult shows! Dad had also found some vintage Halloween decorations so we put those in the car and headed into the sunset.
