The Beauty and the Beach

Finally Joel and I took a mini vacation and headed to the beach. We figured this was a delayed anniversary weekend, since all we did on the real day was get takeout (It was from the Chelsea, though…) Since I work Monday-Friday and Joel works Sunday-Thursday, it’s almost impossible to make decent weekend plans. While I should be counting my blessings that my husband isn’t in the military or an emergency room doctor, I’m still not at peace with our schedule. So, I anticipated this break with salivation. (That wasn’t supposed to sound gross.) A “friend” let us borrow their house at Emerald Isle, nestled between the calm sound and the unsettled ocean. We basically spent 48 hours doing nothing (Read: Watching reruns of NCIS, cooking, sleeping, sitting on the beach.) The weather was rather chilly, and if you know anything about the Outer Banks, you know it’s more windy on the beach than inland. This kept us inside mostly, but we could see a sliver of the ocean and 160 degrees of the sound from the den, so we were satisfied. The only thing we really missed out on was the outside shower—I guess we COULD have experienced intimacy with nature, but I don’t think I would look back on that memory with fondness. Joel made a shrimp, potato & corn stew to go with clams the last night before we packed up, and we had leftovers the next couple days to remind us of the beauty we’d just left.
Shells always remind me of Grammy.
Joel became a bird photography fiend. It's a good thing the camera has zoom; I am not a fan of birds close to me. The gorgeous sunset.
This came out well considering we took it ourselves and it was pitch black.
....ashes to ashes, fish to sand... My cutie pie. Some days I miss gymnastics.
My cutie pie dancing. Yes really.

Lovely photos! The sunset is gorgeous (I'm a sunset/sunrise junkie). But I especially enjoyed your shots at the beach - Joel walking, dancing, and you gymnastic-ing. Such fun shots!

Thanks for the link.

Thanks! I'm not at all a professional photographer, I just like capturing memories.
