This weekend went by too quickly, as they all do. We had our pastor’s golden retriever Gigi over at the house this weekend, which was wonderful. She’s the most loving dog, and it’s hysterical to watch her follow you everywhere. I mean, if you go from one side of the kitchen to another, she’ll get up and move with you. My Mom came to visit and she said having Gigi was like having a clinging toddler! But Mom didn’t mind, since when she left she wanted to stick Gigi in the backseat and take her home to the farm.
Mom is an experienced gardener (read: she used to drive from Greenville to Bethel to tend a one-acre garden after work…that’s dedication), and I needed her advice before I sited my boxes for my Square Foot Garden I’m planting this week. She helped me locate them and decide on the number of plants. I’m starting small, with only two boxes so as not to overwhelm myself. It will have delicious squash, zucchini, eggplant, basil, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. My mouth is watering as I type this. Wish me luck.
We also went car-shopping for her, which was fun. By the time we got done with that, we needed to make time to watch Mama Mia, so she picked up takeout from The Chelsea. It was shrimp & calamari pomodoro, black strap pork, and a glass of wine. A good girl’s night in.
Saturday for lunch I headed over to Aunt Karen’s for a Bekgah’s Belated Birthday. It was great to visit with all the family, though I am a loser and didn’t take any pictures. This spring is so busy, but I’m hoping to block out more time to spend with everyone—time is going faster and faster the older I get. I didn’t think that was supposed to happen before thirty. I was wrong.
Joel took the youth on a mountain retreat, and maybe if I say he’s going to post photos on his blog he might actually do it (cough, cough, honey). Our buddy Josh went with them, and they all had a great time visiting and spending quality time in nature.
